A few decades ago, shopping baskets were a must when going out for shopping until plastic bags came in as their replacement. However, some decades of heavy use and reckless disposal of plastics has led to severe environmental damage.
Thus, on 13 January, 2023, YONECO and various stakeholders in Ntcheu district organized a cleanup exercise that was further aimed at promoting cleanliness and proper waste disposal.
The cleanup exercise was conducted in various communal spaces as a way of encouraging the general public to make the gesture of tidying premises around them as a routine part of their everyday life.
